Description:
For years, a boulder sitting on the Sunset Beach greenbelt near Pacific and 11th had been misidentified as one that had fallen off of the old Red Car railway. In this episode, host Chris Epting corrects the record and uncovers the real story: the rock is a memorial, placed in 2010 by a mother to honor her daughter Erica, who grew up climbing the distinctive tree beside it and launched a childhood campaign called "Let Them Climb." The episode also visits the historic Sunset Beach Fire Station, where Erica's own tile is part of an ongoing community art wall that tells the story of the neighborhood one painted square at a time. Mayor Casey McKeon makes an appearance to commit to a formal plaque recognizing Erica's memory at the site.
