The Mayor’s Spotlight Awards for February 2025 celebrated outstanding individuals and organizations making a positive impact in Huntington Beach. This month’s honorees included city employees, first responders, local businesses, and championship-winning sports teams.
Economic Development Manager Kriss Casanova received the Employee of the Month award for her leadership in strengthening the city's economy, managing key business initiatives, and fostering community growth. Firefighter Cory Moore was recognized for his quick thinking and lifesaving actions when he performed the Heimlich maneuver on a choking woman at a local restaurant, saving her life. Firefighter Steve Eros also received the Life-Saving Award for his heroic off-duty CPR efforts that helped revive a man at a baseball game.
Community support remained a theme as Huntington Beach Toyota and Beale’s BBQ were honored for their critical contributions in gathering and delivering supplies to victims of the LA wildfires. The spotlight also shined on local athletes, with the Edison High School cheer team, Marina High School cheer team, and the Huntington Beach Chargers youth program all celebrating recent championship victories.
